Five Famous Soccer AM Skill School Winners

Soccer AM is a staple of Saturday morning British television. It has been a permanent fixture for football fans since 1995. The shows enduring popularity has been in no small part thanks to the quality of its segments. One of the most popular is Skill School. In this feature the team visit various football academies up and down the country, pitting two players against each other in a competition to determine who is the most skilful.

Throughout the years there have been some famous faces to have featured in this portion of the show, and we will show you them over the next few days.



Nathan Redmond





Nathan Redmond was in the Birmingham FC Football Academy when he was victorious on Skill School. As you can see in the video, Redmond was a prodigious talent. It was of little surprise when he made his debut for Birmingham aged just 16.

After impressing in the Championship, Redmond got his just desserts, sealing a move to Premier League side Norwich in 2013. He was on the move again in 2016, winding up at Southampton, where he has been a permanent fixture in the side ever since. The pinnacle of Redmond’s career occurred in 2017 when he achieved his first England cap.



Skills are great and should be admired, however, without mastering the fundamentals of soccer, they become a bit-part player.
